    they are nothing special at all. But I'm sorry I cant tell you what exactly they are.

    The dots are "hits" in the tracking detectors where some particle has gone through recently, kind of like pixels that are "on" in a digital camera. These hits are then joined together on self-consistent curved paths by the computer to make tracks.
    BTW, the red hits (in the outer tracker) are "high threshold" which means they are more likely to be from electrons. This is very useful in some cases. It's likely not useful here - but it could be, if some new particle had high charge, it would likely make more red hits!
