Off-axis single lines?

  • expialidocious by expialidocious

In some images, single lines appear from nowhere, pointing well off-center. Some cross other lines, but some are just out by themselves. What are they?

Good question. I see these often, and they're usually white. Would be curious to know as well!

Those are usually "fake" tracks, formed from random alignments of hits (the little dots you see throughout the tracking detector).
    Good question!

Doesn't "white" mean that the computer identified them as something? Or did I get my lines (heh) crossed?

White means that the computer could not match the track to a vertex.. .

Ah, right, white means the computer couldn't find a vertex. That's a good thing not to get messed up! 😃

So... we just ignore the single white off axis tracks?

Yep, so single wild lines can be ignored. But if three or more come together, do mark the #ocv.
